SOC-MED learning experience. :)
This course is a fun one because we got to learn as we do lots of activities. At first, I thought that this course would be a complicated one. But as we went on with the term, I have learned that this course is all about one thing: SOCIETY. It's quite simple, but it has a lot of branches and topics underneath. It tackles ways on how society get to connect with each other and establish ties through the use of technology.

Commonly used tags:
The image above contains the commonly used tags used by people when they uploaded the video. We noticed that most of the up-loaders used the title as their tags and they have a long list of tags.
Length of Video:
Length of Video:
We found out that majority of the videos uploaded were less than a minute, but many also uploaded a 1 to 2 minute video, and there were lesser people who uploaded a long video.
The common video up-loaders are in between the age of 20 to 30 years old while the teenagers trailed behind, the 30 to 40 years old, however, are not the up-loader type.
As we can see, United States of America(U.S.A.) has the most number of uploads, followed by United Kingdom (U.K.), Japan and Netherlands. Most of the other countries have just 1 or 2 videos uploaded that day.
English is the most used language in the videos, while Arabic and German follows. The Others are the videos with background music or it may be a silent video.
* When we conducted the experiment, we encountered two videos which were blocked.

Avatar Experiment
1. How do you define an avatar? Enumerate the consensus definition.
An avatar is a user’s representations of his self used on forums or communities.
Sam : An electronic representation of you that reflects your personality.
Tyrone : It is a character used to hide your true identity on the internet. It can take the form of a picture or a moving object.
2. Does definition of what character or personality your avatar has would only be defined in the role-playing games? Explain your answers.
Sam : No, because the mere look of your avatar and it’s clothes, accessories and facial expression of you avatar defines itself.
Tyrone: No, because the widespread usage of avatars are also evident in blogs and forums so as to protect you and your personal affairs. Moreover, it is also used to further express yourself in the internet. A good example are the ones used in YAHOO! Messenger.
3. Do you want to be defined as an individual or entity virtually based on your avatar or online name? Why or why not.
Sam : No, because the avatars that people make, me for instance, doesn’t always reflect my personality. The avatars that I make reflects what I want to be, not who I am.
Tyrone: I don’t want to be judged as because of my alias or avatar. For me, these are your online counterparts of what you dream of thus it should not define what you are as person.
4. Do you find any significance of having a purposeful avatar or online identity?
Sam : Yes, because what people perceive in your avatar defines your identity and affects how people see you and how they will treat you online.
Tyrone: Absolutely, because in people that can see your avatar tend to sense you as a human being as the avatar is your representation in the internet. So having a meaningful one can really help you in gaining new friends.
5. Does having multiple characters imply negative or positive impact to the person? Give at least two examples and explain your answers.
Sam : No. For example, if you make multiple avatars based on your personality, it only means that you chose to concentrate in different sides of your personality. Another example is, if you chose to make avatars that reflect your aspirations, it only means that you have many dreams. Having multiple characters doesn’t necessarily mean that there is something wrong with you.
Tyrone: Personally, for me having multiple characters imply nothing. Because people tend to mature thus making multiple characters to properly represent themselves. I, myself, have multiple accounts because as I go into college I felt that I should be more formal so I screwed my former email address solely for FB notifs. and made a new one for more important stuff. But, if you’re going to use it with malicious ideas to deceive people like what happened to me in an online game I used to play the I guess that would be negative. But generally, I think it depends on the person’s motive.
6. If you will be asked to make an avatar for yourself today as a Social Being in the #Socmed class, how will you draw your avatar? And what #onlinename will you use?
Sam : I will make an avatar based on my personality and I will use the online name crazylittledreamer.
Tyrone: I think I would make an avatar close to what I look personally. I have one through YAHOO!’s avatar service. As for the alias, I think I will make use of my initial and maybe add some special characters to it.

My avatar is really simple and it reflects my personality.
YouTube.
Impact of YouTube to me.
I found out about the site YouTube when I was Grade 6, and I started actually using it when I was in high school. YouTube has been a great help for me when I am bored and when I need videos for my school works. Most of the time, I use YouTube to watch music videos, listen to music and watch trailers. YouTube has been a great source of comfort and entertainment to me. Whenever I need educational videos for reports or if I just feel like watching educational videos, YouTube is always there to help me. :)
How can we use YouTube to improve the education in the Philippines?
I think we can use YouTube to improve education in the Philippines by using YouTube to upload and share educational videos. For example, the teachers can use YouTube to share reviewers or notes to help their students understand the lesson more. They can also upload demos for subjects like Mathematics, where the students need a more of a practical approach in learning.
How can you see YouTube evolving 10 years from now?
With the increasing number of videos in YouTube, I think 10 years from now, YouTube would be able to organize the videos that people are uploading where everyone can see a directory of videos based on their genre. Also, I think the user interface would be better and there will be more perks and applications available for all users.

a memorable childhood experience.

I know, I don't know how I got it inside my nose too. LOL.
I don't remember the whole thing, because I was just a little girl back then, but what I remember is being taken to the clinic near our place and the doctor inserting some sort of thin tweezers in my nose.
I was watching tv while eating watermelon seeds. A few minutes after my mom left me, she saw a tiny lump on my nose. When my mom took a peek inside, there it is, a watermelon seed. :)
Apparently, I had a cold that time, and my nose was itchy, so I used a watermelon seed-which I was eating-to scratch my nose. I don't know how, but i somehow managed to put it inside my teeny tiny nose.
My parents brought me to the clinic, and voila!, I'm good as new. :)
Given the chance, I wouldn't let anyone else experience this because although funny, it's clearly an act of stupidity. :) LOL.
